Recently, the China-Africa Vocational Education Alliance announced the list of approved construction units for the first batch of the Ethiopian National Occupational Standards Development Project (China-Africa Vocational Education Letter (2023) No. 16). ZZRVTC was selected for five projects, including Train Driving Technician/Engineer Ⅳ, Railway Infrastructure Construction and Maintenance Engineer Ⅳ and Ⅴ, Railway Operation Management Engineer Ⅴ and Railway Signaling and Communication System Installation and Maintenance Technician/Engineer Ⅳ. Among the 5 projects in total, it will lead 4 and participate in 1.
This standard development project is authorized by the Ethiopian Ministry of Labor and Skills and entrusted to the China-Africa Vocational Education Alliance for organization and implementation. The aim is to establish and improve relevant industry vocational standards and vocational education systems in Ethiopia. The project focuses on vocational positions in Ethiopia's key industries and selects the same number of vocational standards in China. After localized revisions, the standards will be registered and certified in accordance with Ethiopia’s national processes. They will be incorporated into the national vocational education system together with the supporting professional teaching standards in order to guide Ethiopian vocational colleges and universities in conducting talent nurturing.
Based on the project implementation plan, the standard development work for this round will start in mid-May, and the project will be completed in early October. A dedicated project team will be established by the school of Locomotive and Rolling Stock, the School of Transportation Management, the School of Electronic Engineering, and the School of Railway Engineering of ZZRVTC in order to complete the relevant construction tasks with high quality and take practical action to help in the construction of Belt and Road and the construction of the China-Africa Zhan Tianyou Institute.
